1. When is check-in and check-out?
Check in is 3 pm and check out is 11 am. If nobody is arriving on the day you are checking out, you may request a late check out. If you need to store your bags upon an early arrival or departure, the front desk will be happy to watch them for you. Upon departure, we ask that you leave the kitchen area, in particular, as clean as possible, since that is the one area that is the responsibility of guests.
2. How does housekeeping work?
Our housekeeper staff have been with us for many years and is wonderful. They make the beds and clean all areas of the unit with the exception of the kitchen, which is the responsibility of the guest. She works every day with the exception of Sunday. We ask that if you are pleased with service you tip her at the end of your stay (Please use your own judgment to determine the tip; when asked we generally advise $1-2 US per person per day.)
3. Does Casa McMullen have a safe?
Yes. We offer a safe to store passports etc. and provide information regarding the location and combination prior to your arrival. Although we have owned our unit for more than 20 years and neither we or any of our guests never experienced a theft, we believe it's always better to be safe than sorry.
4. Do I need a car?
No! In fact, we highly recommend that you do not rent a car for your visit. Puerto Vallarta is best experienced on foot, on buses and by taxi.
5. How does money work in Puerto Vallarta?
Although most merchants accept US dollars, we recommend you use pesos or a credit card in order to get the best value for your money. You can use Debit cards at bank ATMs . The closest one is Intercam, which is just across the street at the end of the block. You can also be confident using credit cards at restaurants and with vendors that seem reputable. While there have been reports of credit card ID theft, we have not experienced it, nor do we know anyone who has. We recommend that you use your best judgment – if you the vendor or individual who will be running your credit card doesn’t feel safe, be prepared to use cash.
6. Can we drink the water?
We have a purified water system in our building and throughout Puerto Vallarta, so you can feel perfectly comfortable drinking the water. We also have a large bottled water dispenser in the unit. If it is empty, you can order a refill for $30 pesos (less than $2 US).
7. What is the emergency contact info for Casa McMullen?
The 24-hour phone number for Vista del Sol is +52-322-223-0155. Callers should ask for Unit 609. Upon request, you may also provide my personal email address to those you think may need to reach you.
8. Can you provide information on things to do in Puerto Vallarta?
Of course! Visit the "Plan Your Stay" tab for the most current recommendations on areas to explore, tours and restaurants.
9. Are there laundry facilities at Casa McMullen?
Vista del Sol has washers and dryers in the basement. They cost about $3 US/hr and you must provide your own soap. You can purchase soap at the nearby OXXO, but we recommend bringing your own soap pods from home. It’s easier and less expensive.
10. Do you have a hair dryer and iron/ironing board on the premises?
We do! Beach towels, too.
